Massive 6.4 earthquake hits Taiwan killing two and injuring 100 as 4-star hotel and other buildings collapse in 'swarm' of tremors

Two people have died and more than 100 are injured after a massive 6.4 earthquake hit Taiwan, according to reports.
A four-star 300-room hotel, reported to be the Marshal Hotel in Hualien City, collapsed with firefighters trying to free those inside.
The tremor struck 22km northeast of Hualien at a depth of 1km at 11:50pm local time, the US Geological Survey said on Tuesday.
A second substantial quake - measuring 5.1 in magnitude - hit the country at 2am local time.
Photographs posted on social media showed extensive damage to roads and high-rise buildings partially collapsed.
The government confirmed a hotel had collapsed, but no further details were immediately available.
Taiwan has seen 19 earthquakes today, all occurring just off the coast of Hualien, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
National Central University Institute of Applied Geology professor Lee Chyi-tyi describes this cluster of earthquakes as a "earthquake swarm".
Army spokesman Chen Chung-chi said the military has been deployed to assist in the rescue mission.
He said 88 military personnel of the Hua-tung Defence Command have been dispatched to the scene while another 250 soldiers will be sent soon, reported Focus Taiwan News Channel.
Images circulating on social media showed some roads with gaping holes and cracks.
Rockfall, blackouts and gas leaks were also reported elsewhere.
