　精進湖（しょうじこ）は、山梨県南都留郡富士河口湖町にある湖。富士五湖のひとつで、西から2番目にあり、富士箱根伊豆国立公園の特別地域内にあります。
　同じ富士五湖の西湖、本栖湖と同一の水脈を有しているので水面標高も同じく約900mで、湖水の水位が連動する傾向があります。最大水深は15.2mで河口湖と並び3番目の深さ。0.5平方キロメートルと五湖中でもっとも湖水面積が狭く、流入河川および流出河川はありません。
　イギリス人のハリー・スチュワート・ホイットウォーズは、1895年富士山が綺麗に見られる避暑地「ジャパン・ショージ」として日本国外に宣伝しました。そのため多くの外国人観光客が訪れ、精進湖に当時日本有数の避暑地として「精進湖ホテル」が創業されました。

Lake Shoji is a lake located in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture. It is one of the Five Lakes of Fuji, the second from the west, and is located in a special area of Fuji Hakone Izu National Park.
Since it has the same water veins as Lake Motosu and Saiko of the same Fuji Five Lakes, the water surface altitude is also about 900 m, and the water level of the lake tends to be linked. The maximum water depth is 15.2m, which is the third deepest along with Lake Kawaguchi. With 0.5 square kilometers, it has the smallest lake area of the five lakes, with no inflow or outflow rivers.
Harry Stewart Whitwars, an Englishman, advertised outside Japan in 1895 as a summer resort "Japan Shoji" where Mt. Fuji can be seen beautifully. As a result, many foreign tourists visited Lake Shoji, and the Lake Shoji Hotel was founded as one of Japan's leading summer resorts at the time.
