I am not so good about English but I think you are right. Textbooks at school is different from natural English.
For instance, reply to 'How are you?' is always 'I'm fine' in textbooks,
but this sentence might sound like 'I don't need your help. Let me alone.' depending on the situation.
Sometimes 'I'm doing well.' is better.
