「寒くて、地獄のようで、怖い」 、英で過酷な耐久レース開催

【1月29日 AFP】泥水に潜り、炎を跳び越え、有刺鉄線の下をはう──こうしたアクティビティーは、多くの人が思い浮かべる「楽しいこと」ではないだろう。

　だが、英イングランド中部ウォルバーハンプトン（Wolverhampton）では先週末、そのような「楽しいこと」ばかりが行われるイベント「タフ・ガイ（Tough Guy）」レースが開催され、世界27か国から参加者1500人が集まった。コスチュームに身を包んだ参加者も少なくなかった。今年のレースでは、13キロ弱のコースに、参加者らの我慢の限界を試す約300個の障害物が置かれた。

　主催者によると、「タフ・ガイ」レースは、同種イベントとして最も歴史があり、また最も過酷な内容になっているという。近年、こうしたレースは英国各地で行われるようになった。(c)AFP
