特区政府のフェースブックページ「添馬台」は９月４日、
新型コロナウイルス感染症（ＣＯＶＩＤ―１９）第５波による死亡者は８月末までに９４７６人に上ったと発表した。

死亡者のうち６６９７人はワクチンを接種していないほか、１回接種したのは１４４８人、
２回接種したのは１１５９人、３回接種したのはわずか１５９人だった。

政府は死亡者のうち９８％が３回接種を行っていないと指摘し、
１～２回の接種では保護力が足りないため、市民にできるだけ早く３回の接種を行うよう呼びかけた。

特区政府衛生防護中心伝染病処の欧家栄・首席医師は、死亡者のうち９６％は６０歳以上の高齢者であり、
そのうち８６％はワクチンを接種していないか１回しか接種しておらず、病死率は７．８３％と指摘。

すでに３回接種した人は病死率が０．１４％、４回接種した人は０．０４％に低下していると説明した。

４日までに３回接種した高齢者の割合は６８．２％となっている。
