・白人の3分の1、外国語「気に障る」＝共和党支持者で顕著―米調査

【ワシントン時事】米世論調査機関ピュー･リサーチ･センターは8日、公共の場で英語以外の言葉が話されるのを聞いて「気に障る」と感じる白人が、3分の1に上るという調査結果を発表した。多様な人種構成の中で、米国社会に摩擦が生じていることを示す調査結果と言えそうだ。
それによると、「大いに」「いくらか」を合わせ、米国成人の29％が公共の場で英語以外が話されることが気に障ると回答。人種別の内訳では白人が最高の34％。以下、黒人（25％）、アジア系（24％）、ヒスパニック系（13％）と続いた。
白人に限ると、気に障るとした割合は、18〜29歳で18％だったのに対し、65歳以上で45％に上った。共和党支持層で特にその傾向が強く、白人の共和党支持者の47％が気に障ると答え、民主党支持者の18％を大きく上回った。［時事通信社］
