There are now 3,615 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in New York City, City Hall announced Thursday afternoon.

Twenty-two people have died in New York City of the coronavirus, City Hall says.

The city says 554 people have been hospitalized, with 169 of those people in the ICU.

Officials have repeatedly said the number of confirmed cases is expected to rise more rapidly as testing is ramped up.

The breakdown of cases by borough, according to City Hall:

Brooklyn - 1,030
Queens - 980
Manhattan - 976
The Bronx - 436
Staten Island - 165

The mayor and NYC Health + Hospitals on Thursday announced expanded, appointment-only testing capacity for the coronavirus across 10 acute-care hospitals, seven Gotham Health community-based health centers, and four drive-thru test sites.
