バイデン氏の当選が最終的に確定したことを受け、トランプ氏は報道官のツイッターを通して声明を発表。「選挙結果にはまったく納得していないし、事実は私の主張を裏付けているが、それでも1月20日に整然と政権移行をする」とした。

また、「私は合法的な票だけが集計されることを求めて闘い続けると言ってきた。大統領の歴史上、最も偉大な1期目はこれで終わりとなるが、アメリカを再び偉大な国にする！（Make America Great Again!）ための私たちの闘いは始まったばかりだ」と続けた。
